School Meals

St. Matthew's provides an opportunity for all pupils to enjoy a hot cooked lunch each day.

We use Kafoodle to share our menus with parents quickly and easily. This digital system ensures you always have access to the most up-to-date meal information. You can view daily options, dietary details, and allergen information.

At St. Matthew’s, we pride ourselves on delivering a delicious, balanced and nutritious menu to our children every day.

Garden Kitchen operates in most of the Bishop Wilkinson CET schools now and the uptake of school meals in St. Matthew’s has been consistently above 90% over the last 3 years.  That is largely down to the wonderful work of our in-house catering team led by Mrs. Paula Potter.

Every day, our children can choose from a main meal, vegetarian option, pasta dish or jacket potato.  There’s also a delicious pudding every day as well as fresh fruit, yoghurts or cheese and biscuits  to choose from.

Heathy Packed Lunches and Snacks

As part of our healthy schools initiative we try and ensure that any children who bring snacks for breaktimes, or packed lunches into schools ensure that they are healthy. We will be closely monitoring snacks on the playground to ensure that this is the case. Below is a link of healthy options for packed lunches.

Is your child eligible to receive free school meals?

Universal free school meals

All pupils in reception, year one, and year two are entitled to a free meal, without having to apply for this option. However, if you feel you may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) it is important that you apply immediately as FSM eligibility means other resources may be available to the school and your child including pupil premium. Please complete an eligibility check for FSM when applying to school, please do not wait until your child is in year 3.

Eligibility for free school meals The government has made amendments to the eligibility criteria since April 2018.
